Saturday 10 April 2021
Following a successful trial and consultation period, the proposed inclusion of the N4 night bus in the scheduled public bus service has now been agreed on a permanent basis. In addition, an extra Saturday morning commuter service has been added to the Route 93.
Aside from the inclusion of these additions, Traffic & Highway Services (THS) has requested that CT Plus continue running the core services of the current timetable, as published on 6 January 2020, throughout the remainder of 2021.
As was the case during 2020, CT Plus will again not be operating the published additional off-peak daytime summer services on routes 71 and 81 between April and October that were designed to provide additional capacity, primarily for cruise ship passengers.
However, given that some tourist activity may be permitted later in the summer and that many Islanders will be taking advantage of Staycations and other 'support local' initiatives once again this year, the decision was made to continue with the published additional summer evening services, both inbound and outbound, for the following routes, days and times from 19 April. Please note that this is a week later than stated in the published paper timetable for 2020 (featuring as yellow columns).
- Route 11 (Sunday only) - 19:30 Terminus departure/ 19:51 L'Ancresse departure
- Route 21 (Monday - Saturday) - 20:20 Terminus departure/ 20:38 L'Islet crossroads departure
- Route 32 (Monday - Saturday) - 20:35 Terminus departure/ 21:00 La Passée departure
- Route 81 (Saturday) - 20:50 Terminus departure/ 21:14 Jerbourg departure and (Sunday) - 19:20 Terminus departure/ 19:44 Jerbourg departure
- Route 91 (Monday - Saturday) - 19:05 Terminus departure/ 19:55 Vazon Bay departure
- Route 92 (Monday - Saturday) - 19:35 Terminus departure/ 20:20 Vazon Bay departure
The bus service continues to provide an essential, regular and reliable service for many and has remained a popular method of transport whilst the island has enjoyed unrestricted life within its Bailiwick Bubble. This has been reflected in passenger numbers in between lockdown restrictions where passenger numbers have recovered to near normal levels. However, with very few visitors coming to the island over the last 12 months or so, the traditional increase in passenger journeys experienced in the summer months did not materialise last year. Accordingly, annual passenger journeys on scheduled bus services have reduced from a record 1,943,258 in 2019 to 1,193,210 in 2020.
The current timetable, along with the additional summer services which will be run this year, can be viewed on the CT Plus website at www.buses.gg Physical timetables will not be updated due to the potential for further changes to the summer services this year. Persons in possession of a physical copy are therefore asked to be mindful of these changes and call the CT Plus shop if they are uncertain if a particular service (marked in yellow) is running.
THS wishes to thank CT Plus for running a consistent and appropriate service throughout the pandemic. This consistency has ensured that essential workers dependant on the service were able to get to and from the workplace throughout both lockdowns and in a way which kept passengers and staff as safe as possible.
Together with CT Plus, THS would like to encourage Islanders to continue taking advantage of the bus service while we remain in our Bailiwick Bubble, as it is a great way to reduce both on-island transport emissions and congestion.
