Stuart Falla CBE has been appointed to the role of Chair of the new Guernsey Development Agency following an open and competitive recruitment process.
The States of Guernsey agreed earlier this year to establish the Agency as a company which operates at arm's length from government. The purpose of the Agency is to oversee and deliver the development of the seafront on behalf of the States, in line with a strategic direction approved by the States.
The Chair will lead the recruitment of other members to form a board, and establish the Agency's team of employed staff which will be a small and efficient team, which brings in other local industry expertise at times where needed.
Deputy Peter Ferbrache, President of the Policy & Resources Committee, said:
"Stuart Falla is well known to Islanders for his leading industry experience and his passion for Guernsey, and I'm very confident he is the right person to lead this new body. The role of Chair will be very important in setting the way in which the Agency works and engages with the States and other stakeholders. Being a new Agency delivering developments in an area that means so much to us all, it makes this role even more critical but again, we're extremely confident that Stuart will make it a success."
More details on the development of the Agency will be issued in due course.
