Please visit the Bulk Refuse website and complete their application form. You will need to select whether you wish for the vehicle to be collected or whether you will deliver the vehicle to the Guernsey Recycling scrap yard at Bulwer Avenue yourself. If you choose to have the vehicle collected, there is a fee of £30. If your choose to deliver the vehicle yourself and your application is approved, you will be sent a letter from Bulk Refuse to confirm this. Once you have received your letter you will need to contact Guernsey Recycling to arrange delivery.
Driver and Vehicle Licensing should be notified as soon as possible after a vehicle has been disposed of.
To notify us that your vehicle has been scrapped, please:
- Submit the Vehicle Registration Certificate, with the relevant section on the back completed and signed.
- If the Vehicle Registration Certificate (log book) is unavailable, please complete the following notification form.
- You must state how/where the vehicle was disposed of.
- You must confirm whether or not you wish to retain the vehicle's registration number for your future use (£100.00 fee to retain for one year). If you choose to retain the registration number for future use, it will be retained in the name of the current registered keeper of the vehicle. The keeper will be issued with a Certificate of Retention for the registration number. Once a registration number is retained, it is non-transferable, meaning that the registration number can only be allocated to a vehicle registered in the same name.
If a vehicle has been sold or given away for spare parts, motor cross or sand racing, the vehicle must be transferred, please go to https://gov.gg/BuyingSellingAVehicle for further details. The new keeper must notify us that the vehicle has been scrapped once the chassis of the vehicle has been disposed of by either Bulk Refuse or Guernsey Recycling.
If the vehicle was scrapped outside of Guernsey, please go to https://gov.gg/ExportingAVehicle for further details.
Please note that unless we are notified by you that you have scrapped or exported your vehicle, it will remain registered in your name until we have received the relevant paperwork.
To de-register a trailer please complete the form here.
