Environment Department response to media enquiry from Island FM.
Island FM enquiry:
Has the Environment Department issued a statement regarding the traffic lights at the airport?
Just been looking on the gov.gg website as I thought there may be a statement there regarding this issue as I know the other media have been chasing it - but if there is I can't find it?
If not - is it possible for us to speak with someone regarding the traffic lights as we have now had the taxi drivers targeting us too.
Environment Department response:
The Environment Department always monitors and reviews any changes to traffic arrangements, whether they are permanent or not.
In the case of the Airport Traffic lights the Board recognises the significant public interest that exists and it will be reviewing the issue at its Board meeting on Tuesday 12 June. The Board will take into account not only the views of the Police, Airport Director and Traffic Engineers but also those of the public and the Taxi drivers.
