The Department would like to draw to employers' and employees' attention that proposals to increase the statutory minimum wage rate have been published in the September Billet.
New Minimum Wage Rates
If the States approve the regulation that sets the new rates, they will be in force from 1 October 2012.
In view of the shorter than normal notice period employers are advised to consider the changes to payroll systems that may be needed to ensure compliance from 1 October 2012.
The Department is recommending:-
1) The qualification age for the adult minimum wage is reduced from 19 years to 18 years
2) The adult rate increases to £6.30 (from £6.15)
3) The Young Persons Rate increases to £4.50 (from £4.36)
The "Offset Rates" remain for accommodation at £61.50 and with food at £87.15
