Jason Moriarty has been appointed Chief Officer of the Commerce & Employment Department with immediate effect.
Mr Moriarty, 38, has acted as interim Chief Officer for the past seven months following the move by predecessor Jon Buckland to head up the Education Department.
Mr Moriarty said:
"I am very much looking forward to working across Guernsey's economic sectors and leading an experienced team to ensure Guernsey remains competitive, professional, and ultimately successful. The business landscape and customer expectations are changing and this brings both challenges but also new opportunities."
Mr Moriarty's career to-date has been focused on the promotion, development, and regulation of Guernsey's economy, and he has worked across the majority of economic sectors including manufacturing, non financial services, and finance.
He has spent the last 12 years in business development, relationship management, and promotional roles, and has held dedicated roles in e-business and tourism at Commerce & Employment, most recently as Guernsey's Director of Marketing and Tourism.
Commerce & Employment Minister Kevin Stewart said:
"I'm delighted with Jason's appointment. His energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of the Department's mandate will ensure we can deliver on some extremely important projects over the coming months and years."
States of Guernsey Chief Executive Mike Brown said:
"I am very pleased to confirm Jason's appointment to the post on a permanent basis. Over the past seven months, Jason has demonstrated not only the skill and aptitude needed to succeed in the role but also the commitment and drive to add value to the States of Guernsey as a whole".
