I note that the website has not been updated with the bus figures for September or October. Could we have them please and a comment from the department on the trend?
Environment Department's response:
The latest bus passenger figures for September and October 2013 will be available to view on the Department's website as from tomorrow morning. However, in calculating these figures it has been identified that there are a couple of potential discrepancies in the current method used to assess passenger numbers as compared with previous years' carryings and this is likely to have an impact on the published figures. Further analysis is required in order to ensure that carryings are considered on a truly 'like for like' basis and, hence, there is no point in commenting on any potential trends until the figures have been recalculated.
This process is likely to take a few weeks to resolve and, accordingly, the current figures will be published on the basis of existing methods and reviewed again once the aforementioned matter has been addressed.
