Environment Department response to media enquiry from BBC Radio Guernsey.
BBC Radio Guernsey Enquiry:
I'm working on a piece looking at the cost of the written questions deputies submit to departments - basically because of a comment made in a response from Education to questions recently submitted by Deputy Lester Queripel. He's sent questions to each department by the look of it over the last month or so, and Education commented it had taken roughly two days to respond, and cost around £1,100.
I know he similarly submitted questions to Environment and wanted to ask how long it had taken to respond, and how much that cost.
Environment Department Response:
The Environment Department responded to a Rule 6 Question from Deputy Lester Queripel towards the end of 2013. In that response the Department advised that the cost of responding to the enquiry was estimated at £300. The Rule 6 question was broad, relating to all units of the Department and hence required research and input from a number of staff including senior staff. An exact log of time taken was not kept but the costs were estimated and were almost certainly estimated on the low side.
