Health and Social Services Department response to Guernsey Press enquiry
Guernsey Press Enquiry:
It mentions at the end that the admissions team will be contacting patients due to be admitted in the next two days to postpone. Can the department confirm how many more procedures will be delayed, and whether it will extend beyond the next two days? Is it able to give a breakdown of the procedures which are being cancelled?
With regard to the questions about suppliers not being paid on time, is this something the department wishes to comment on?
Health & Social Services Department response:
A spokesperson for HSSD said:
"Over the next two days, six admissions to Victoria Wing will be postponed in order to ensure that people are not unnecessarily put at risk of the diarrhoea and vomiting symptoms that are currently being investigated.
The Department's established procedures will determine how long the infection prevention measure will remain in operation in these circumstances.
At present HSSD is not experiencing any significant or untoward problems resulting from procurement or payment processes."
