Guernsey Press Enquiry:
I see Environment has submitted an application for a number of trees to be protected at Uplands/St Jacques House, St Jacques (PT79).
What has triggered this application?
Why do they need to be protected?
Environment Department Response:
The Environment Department has made a Tree Protection Order relating to a group of trees at Uplands/St Jacques House, St Jacques (PT79). There is a current planning application relating to proposed development at Uplands.
The existing group of trees is of importance in terms of their contribution to visual amenity and to the character and appearance of the St Jacques Conservation Area. It consequently appeared to the Department that in the interests of amenity it should provide for the protection of the trees by means of a Tree Protection Order under section 43 of the Land Planning and Development (Guernsey) Law, 2005.
