Bus Contract Signing

Thursday 12 February 2015

The Environment Department is pleased to be able to announce that it has now signed a contract with CT Plus Guernsey Ltd for the provision of bus services from 1 April 2015 when the current contract expires.

The new contract will run for 5.5 years.

Minister for the Environment Department, Deputy Burford said:

"I am aware that the work undertaken to tender the bus service and prepare the contract presented an immense undertaking for all of the staff involved and I am delighted that we have been able to meet the deadlines we were working to.  The contract includes a number of new service elements which we expect will make the bus service more attractive.  These new services cannot of course materialise overnight but staged changes will be delivered during the first year of the contract.  Full details on these new services will be provided in the coming days and weeks."

Dai Powell Chief Executive of the HCT Group, Parent Company of CT Plus Guernsey Ltd, said:

"We are delighted that we have been able to win this contract after a very extensive tender exercise.  The first thing we will do now is order the new bus ticket machines which are necessary in order to support other changes that will be delivered during the contract.  We will also be recruiting more drivers and we will be talking to our existing staff about the improved terms and conditions that we are able to offer on the back of the new contract.  There is a great deal of work to be undertaken between now and 1st April but now that we have been given the green light, we will push ahead in putting all those arrangements in place."
