BBC Radio Guernsey Enquiry

Hi there

Please have a look at this. And zoom into the bathing pools.

http://draftislandplan.digimap.gg/

Currently the pools are under the harbour action area and are not in the conservation area.

*can someone give clarity to this decision?

*why are they part of the harbour action area?

*what's planned for their future?

Many thanks

Jon

Environment Department's response:

Exclusion of the bathing pools from the Conservation Area on the draft Island Development Plan Proposals Map is an inadvertent result of a mapping error and will be rectified through the Planning Inquiry process.

The designated Harbour Action Areas include land around the harbours at St Peter Port and St Sampson's which should be considered and included as part of any comprehensive Local Planning Brief prepared for these areas in accordance with draft Policy MC10: Harbour Action Areas.  The draft Island Development Plan emphasises that the harbour areas should not be considered in isolation and refers to the importance of interaction and interplay of the harbours with other areas of the Town and the Bridge.

Including the bathing pools within the St Peter Port Harbour Action Area does not signify that any specific development is envisaged for this area.  It will however ensure that future strategies for the development of the Harbour Action Area take account of this area in a positive way, including with regard to conserving and enhancing the area's historic character.
