Enquiry from the Guernsey Press
Hi there,
I have a media enquiry for the department regarding what appears to be works to the Grandes Rocques sea wall.
I have noticed that there were workmen there yesterday and today in luminous jackets. Could I ask the department what the workmen are doing? Is it re-pointing?
Is this part of regular sea wall maintenance? How much has it cost and how is it being paid for?
When was it noticed that this work was needed? Is it the result of any storm damage?
Does any similar work need doing anywhere else?
How long will the work take?
We would like to run this story over the weekend. Would it therefore be possible to get a response by 4pm today?
Please can someone confirm receipt of this email.
Kind regards,
Anna Brehaut

Environment Department's response
The Environment Department is undertaking minor repairs to open joints in the sea wall, at the Saline end of Grandes Rocques. The damage was noted during a routine inspection earlier this year.
The work involves repointing a small section of the sea wall as part of on-going maintenance. The cost of the works will be in the region of £1500, and will be funded from the Environment Department's revenue budget.
The works will take approximately one week.
