Media Enquiry from BBC Radio Guernsey:
Can I follow this up with, why don't we see more hoarding art in the island? And who makes the ultimate decision as to what is acceptable? Is it Environment?
Environment Department Response:
The inclusion of public art on a temporary hoarding around a construction site may not be development that requires planning permission. This would then not be a matter for the Environment Department.
Where the proposed art display includes advertising and planning permission is required, as in the case of the Havelet Brewery site, a planning application would be considered on its merits in the normal way.
