Over recent months a number of dropped kerbs and blister paving have been installed to help improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
Tim Prout, Active Travel Communications Officer from the Environment Department said:
"It is great news we have made progress in enhancing accessibility. This work stream is one of many within the Integrated Transport Strategy, and the improvements will benefit those with a disability or those with reduced mobility. The dropped kerbs will also assist those who use buggies or pushchairs in these areas meaning locals and visitors will be able to enjoy easier access across the Island, more so within the town area."
"Our aim is to continue looking for opportunities where this type of infrastructure can be installed either as part of scheduled road maintenance to minimise disruption and keeps costs as low as possible, or as standalone projects."
Tony Yates from the Guernsey Disability Alliance Access Group said:
"The GDA and Access4all are delighted that this part of the Integrated Transport Strategy is progressing towards providing a safe and accessible environment for all pedestrians."
