Media Enquiry from Guernsey Press:
I am doing a piece about the planning application for the Colborne Road work. It was very thorough, but it seems there might have been a few changes (on the advice of planners) from when the main document was prepared and the final application.
The main document said it was hoped the work would start in November and use rock catch netting and shotcrete, at a cost of £125,000.
However the final application I believe was just for the rock catch netting, due concerns about the appearance of the shotcrete.
Can I check what the final costing for the project was under the current plans and what the timescale is for the work - approximate start and finish dates. The application came from the Environmental Services Unit.
Environment Department Response:
Until we receive quotes for the works (tenders are due to be sent out at the end of this week, once the final specifications and drawings have been prepared) we can only work to an estimate of costs for the purposes of preliminary budgeting. Shotcrete will not now form part of the specification so there is an expectation that costs can be significantly reduced on the original estimate.
Subject to planning permission being received, the intention is to start works in early November and we will aim to get works completed in three weeks.
