Media Enquiry from Guernsey Press:
I've been asked to come back to the department on it. The response did not state whether there have been any problems and if it has had to take any kind of action, could the department clarify this? Also what safeguards does it have in place to make sure this does not happen?
Environment Department Response:
The Environment Department can confirm that is has not had to take action in this respect. It is the responsibility of a vehicles registered keeper/owner to ensure their vehicle is complying with the legislation set out by the country in which they are circulating their vehicle. If a vehicle fails to comply with the legislation of the jurisdiction in which it is currently circulating, it would be a matter for that jurisdiction to enforce their legislation. No other jurisdiction has contacted the Department in this respect.
