The Committee for Health & Social Care's Adult Community Service provide specialist assessment and intermediate nursing and residential care beds for individuals experiencing dementia who present with behaviours that challenge.

All admissions to the service require an appropriate needs assessment panel (NAP) certificate. Your key worker/social worker will complete the necessary paperwork to enable you to receive an assessment surrounding your needs.

  • Tautenay Ward

    • Tautenay is an 8 bedded mental health assessment unit for older adults with dementia and other mental illnesses and is based in the Oberlands Centre. Admission to Tautenay are arranged via the old age psychiatrist or associate only. The inter-professional team work in a person centred way and value the input and knowledge of family and carers.
    • Following a period of assessment the individual will return home with added support if needed. If discharge home is not possible then an appropriate long term care placement will be explored and arranged. A discharge package of care will be planned with the wider community team.

  • Roustel Ward

    • Roustel Ward has 15 beds to provide specialist care primarily to individuals who have dementia who present with highly complex needs and behaviours that pose significant challenges. Admission to this ward requires a hospital Nursing NAP certificate.
    • Long term care within the Roustel Ward is mostly funded by HSC, however residents do pay a fee equivalent to the long term health insurance co-payment, usually the equivalent of a full Guernsey old age pension. Residents are also required to pay for GP/Chiropody visits and charges may apply for other products i.e. products to manage continence. For a full list of charges please speak to the nurse in charge.

  • Corbiere Ward

    • Corbiere Ward has 20 beds to provide specialist long term and respite care primarily to individuals who have dementia who present with complex needs and challenging behaviours. Admission to this ward requires a hospital residential NAP certificate.
    • Long term care within the Corbiere Ward is mostly funded by HSC, however residents do pay a fee equivalent to the long term health insurance co-payment, usually the equivalent of a full Guernsey old age pension. Residents are also required to pay for GP/Chiropody visits and charges may apply for other products i.e. products to manage continence. For a full list of charges please speak to the nurse in charge.

  • Brehon Ward

    • Brehon Ward has 20 beds to provide care for individuals who require specialist nursing interventions that cannot be met within a community setting. All admissions to the ward require a hospital nursing NAP certificate.
    • The ward also offers short-term respite placements to give carers of individuals who have complex physical and mental health needs a break.
    • Long-term care within the Brehon Ward is mostly funded by HSC, however residents do pay a fee equivalent to the long term health insurance co-payment, usually the equivalent of a full Guernsey old age pension. Residents are also required to pay for GP/Chiropody visits and charges may apply for other products i.e. products to manage continence. For a full list of charges please speak to the nurse in charge.
