Media Enquiry from Guernsey Press:
I understand some work is being done today to clear the footpath at La Fontenelle Bay.
I was hoping to have some details about how long the work will take, what work is being done, how long the footpath has been covered and whether any more work will be needed in the future?
We are planning to run something tomorrow, so could you possibly get back to me by 3pm this afternoon.
Environment Department Response:
The boulder protection adjacent to the foot path on the western side of La Fontenelle Bay has been repaired. It was damaged during storms in early 2014. The shingle bank has been regraded to a lower and wider profile in preparation for winter. The footpath surface on the western side of the bay and behind the shingle bank will be restored after the boulder protection has been completed. The sub base for the path will be laid early next week and the top surface will be applied shortly afterwards.
