The repair to the damaged coastal wall at Longstore slipway will start on Monday 25th July. The contractor is Geomarine and the works will entail the dismantling of the wall at the slipway, and the insertion of steel reinforcing rods. When rebuilt the granite wall will closely resemble the original.
The site working area will extend over the cycle/footpath into the southbound traffic lane. Therefore, the Project Team have worked closely with Traffic and Highway Services to put in place traffic management to maintain two way traffic, cycle and pedestrian routes around the works.
During the period of these works, traffic travelling north from Town will be able to turn into the Bouet and traffic leaving the Bouet will be able to turn left towards the Bridge. However it will not be possible to turn into the Bouet when travelling south (i.e. from St Sampson's to Town) and neither will it be possible to turn right towards Town when leaving the Bouet.
While this work is being done, the pavement and cycle way as well as part of the southbound carriage way will be shut. A shared and protected pedestrian and cycle way will be created in what is normally the southbound carriage way in this area.
The works will have a minor impact on the inbound 31 scheduled bus services, which will divert along Elizabeth Avenue.
The coastal infrastructure repair works at Longstore will take approximately eight weeks.
