His Royal Highness the Duke of York is visiting the Bailiwick on Monday (3rd October, 2016).
The Duke of York will visit Alderney in the morning followed by Guernsey in the afternoon.
HRH, who is Patron of the Alderney Maritime Trust, is returning to Alderney to inspect three cannon and other artefacts recovered from an Elizabethan vessel discovered by an Alderney fisherman in 1977. His Royal Highness will also meet trustees and divers from the team of volunteers that recovered the items.
During his visit The Duke of York will meet Alderney States members, local school children, and members of the Alderney Lifeboat crew.
The visit will also include a viewing of a replica of The Alderney Bayeux Tapestry Finale, which was created by islanders and features the crowning of King William I in Westminster Abbey.
On his afternoon visit to Guernsey, HRH, Admiral of the Sea Cadets Corps, will visit Castle Cornet to meet members of the local Sea Cadet unit, TS Sarnia.
Guernsey Sea Cadets are part of the UK's oldest nautical youth charity, which aims to develop social skills and responsibility in young people, and re-connect them with their maritime heritage.
As part of his visit, the Duke of York will be presenting badges to local Sea Cadets as well as watching demonstrations of their skills, including a rope work demonstration and signal flags.
