Tuesday 19 September 2017

The Institute of Health and Social Care Studies, in partnership with the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Middlesex University (MU) is hosting a 12th graduation ceremony at Les Cotils on the 22nd September 2017.

The ceremony will mark the achievements of 29 graduates; 14 of the 29 have become Registered Nurses of which 13 are employed within Health and Social Care.

Over the past 21 years, the Institute has supported a total of 296 students to become Registered Nurses; many now hold senior positions within care settings across the Islands. Fifteen of this year's graduates are Registered Health or Social Care practitioners who have completed a part-time programme leading to a degree or diploma. This programme has been designed by the academic team at the Institute and validated by the UEA. It provides an opportunity for professionals to access further development whilst gaining knowledge and skills required for their specific roles within practice. Students can further their studies by accessing a Masters programme, validated by Middlesex University; this programme is designed with the needs of the local services in mind and we are pleased to be able to award 7 students a post graduate certificate today.

Tracey McClean, Head of Institute, said: 'the students have all worked very hard, we are proud of their achievements, 20 of the students gained 'good' honours, which means they achieved a 2:1 or above; with 12 students gaining a first class honours. We are committed to providing quality education and supporting the development of the workforce delivering health and social care across the Bailiwick'.

The next intake of pre-registration nursing students will be in September 2018. Anyone interested in applying for this programme should contact Samantha Smedley, Senior Administrator on 707445 or by email at samantha.smedley@.gov.gg .
