Guernsey prison is taking every necessary precaution in line with directives from Public Health to support the States of Guernsey response to COVID-19
As a result it has steadily reduced the amount of non-essential visitors and services over the last few days.
Acting Prison Governor John de Carteret said:
"In light of these new measures, I am immediately suspending all physical visits to the prison in order to safeguard everyone - both staff and prisoners. Anyone that has any concerns can contact the prison on 222025 for more information. The situation will be reviewed in due course. I want to take this opportunity to give my assurance that the safety and wellbeing of everyone at the prison is at the forefront of these measures and is my very highest priority.
"Contact with prisoners and their families during this period will be maintained by the prisoners in-cell phones and by post."
