Students are being encouraged to sign up for a Puffin Pass for use on the CT Plus bus service.

Puffin passes allows free travel to school and also on any public bus service, seven days a week (excluding the weekend nightbus services). The initial pass is free - there is a charge of £2.50 if a replacement is needed - so offers students a fantastic deal to support their travel needs while also benefitting the environment.

Encouraging the use of the bus service to and from school can help Guernsey reduce the levels of traffic and congestion, which in turn supports safer active travel in particular around school drop-off points.

Using a Puffin Pass also helps with the planning of school bus routes as it enables more accurate recording of the number of students travelling on each route. From September all students are being asked to use a Puffin Pass when using a bus to get to school.

Schools have been actively encouraging students to sign up to the free pass and parents are being asked to do so too. Application forms may be downloaded from www.buses.gg and can be emailed to CT Plus, together with the required passport-sized photograph. Alternatively, students can apply for a pass at CT Plus' shop at the Town Terminus, where their photograph can also be taken.

In order to continually monitor the requirements of the CT Plus bus service to support students' travel needs, accurate records need to be maintained. While no student would be refused entry onto a bus if they don't have a Puffin Pass, Traffic and Highway Services and CT Plus would ask all parents to support the service by ensuring their child has one - and remember they're free and can be used on nearly all scheduled bus services.
