Two non-voting members have been elected to the Committee for Employment & Social Security

Mark Thompson and Ross Le Brun were selected from a very strong list of candidates. They will sit alongside the States Members on the Committee, where they will be able to fully participate in the work, but will not have a vote.

Mr Thompson is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Director with experience of working with boards in the commercial, public and third sectors. He is currently a Non-Executive Director in the finance sector and is a Director of Elizabeth College and the Youth Commission and a Trustee of the KGV Playing Field Trusts. Mr Thompson is keen to address the challenge of the financial sustainability of the Guernsey Insurance Fund and the Long-term Care Insurance Fund and to ensure the successful implementation of the secondary pensions scheme.

Mr Le Brun runs two small businesses - Labour Force and Mole Excavating - and has employed over 350 people in the last decade. Keen to offer a fresh perspective, Mr Le Brun has a particular interest in developing policies and initiatives to help unemployed people get back to work and in improving affordable housing provision.

Committee for Employment & Social Security President Deputy Peter Roffey said:

"Non-voting members add an important and valuable input to our Committee discussions and I am delighted to welcome Mark and Ross to our future meetings as we progress our agenda this States term. Their skills and viewpoints will, I am sure, add to our debates and contribute to our decision making progress."
