Beau Sejour will re-open to the public on Tuesday 9th March after the Bailiwick of Guernsey progressed to Stage 2 of its Exit out of Lockdown.
Beau Sejour has been working hard with its COVID Vaccination Centre (CVC) colleagues to ensure activities and facilities offered to the public are able to run alongside the CVC in the safest way possible, complying with all the recent guidelines.
There will be a number of things for customers to be aware of, as the look and feel of the Centre will be quite different to what customers usually expect.
- The Centre will be open daily for public lane swimming sessions (main pool only) and BodyZone Gym sessions from 7.00am - 7.00pm from Tuesday 9 March 2021. No other public sessions will be available during this initial re-opening;
- All sessions must be pre-booked and pre-paid. Customers will be asked to leave the Centre if they haven't pre-booked. On-line bookings will be available from 7.00am on Saturday 6 March; and phone bookings available from 9.00am - 6.00pm Saturday 6 March and then from 9.00am on Monday 8 March;
- Although all memberships are currently 'frozen' meaning all customers will have to pay for their booking, members will still have priority booking for facilities aligned with their membership package;
- Activities will only be available for customers aged 18 and over, in accordance with the guidance stating that extra-curricular activities for those under the age of 18 are currently not permitted. This will be reviewed on an on-going basis with Public Health;
- Parking and Entrance for swim and gym customers will be completely separate to the CVC - so customers should follow the appropriate signage and the one-way route within the Centre.
- Face Coverings will need to be worn at all times by customers, unless participating in strenuous activity. Face coverings can be removed before getting into the pool and replaced as the customer exits the water.
- There will be no changing facilities whatsoever available. Swimming customers are asked to come 'beach ready' where they will change on poolside. Gym customers will also need to arrive in their workout gear.
Sam Herridge, Head of Recreation Services says:
"Although we've come out of lockdown before, it will look a little different when compared with last years' experience. We have worked closely with the CVC team to ensure CVC operations and Centre activities are kept completely separate, ensuring we minimise any risk as much as possible. We're hoping our customers understand and will work with us to ensure we keep the community and our staff team as safe as possible."
A 'Welcome Desk' will be in place when customers first enter the Centre, to sanitise hands and act as a handy reminder for the 'dos and don'ts'; and there will be a maximum of 16 customers allowed in the gym, along with 18 swimmers in the pool at any one time. Customers are also reminded to bring their full drinks bottle with them, as no water fountains will be available at this time.
Ms Herridge added:
"We appreciate there are some significant changes to the way we operate during these unprecedented times, and ask our customers and members to please bear with us and to be understanding as we continue to adapt to these new operating standards. We will of course keep all facilities and activities offered during this time under on-going review, and customers are encouraged to follow us on Social Media and visit our website to see when more services are able to resume."
