Candie Christmas returns to Guernsey Museum at Candie this Sunday. The event takes place on two days this year: Sunday 5th and Sunday 12th December.

Candie Christmas returns to Guernsey Museum at Candie this Sunday.

The event takes place on two days this year: Sunday 5th and Sunday 12th December.  There will be extra things going on from 10.00-16.00 on both days.

To mark the current Viking exhibition, the Museums team have given the event a Scandinavian flavour this year.  Many of our common festive traditions can be traced back to the Vikings including tree decoration, Yule logs and carolling.

Candie Christmas is FREE for Discovery Pass holders and their children.  Activities include:

·         £4 Lucky Dip for Christmas Gifts - pay at the till using card or cash

·         Mini Lego Christmas Scene - spot the Viking!

·         Themed Trails - find the elves or follow our yule facts to discover the different Candie Christmas activities & features

·         Different craft activities - including making a pipe cleaner yule goat, creating Christmas decorations and more!

·         Christmas family films at 10:30 & 14:15 with a bonus festive dragon short film at 13:30 - no extra charge (just turn up or join the Facebook group 'Guernsey Museum Films' to see the film titles)

·         Storytelling with Guille-Allès Library - 10.00-12.00 on both days

As a bonus this year - from 19th  to 24th December there will be a daily film at 10:30, Lucky Dip in the shop, help-yourself activities & themed trails.  There is a beautiful range of gifts on sale in the Museum shop and Café Victoria will be open for hot drinks, snacks and light lunches.

Amanda Cook, Visitor Services ManagerThe Museums team explain more about this year's event: 'we have tweaked Candie Christmas slightly to give people more space and flexibility.  Masks are mandatory for those over 12 (who are able to wear them) and we do recommend visitors take a Lateral Flow test before attending'.
