It is the last chance to see several exhibitions at Guernsey Museum at Candie.

The annual closure of the Museum on 31 December will also mark the end of three exhibitions, a role play area and the end of the temporary loan of artwork.

The largest exhibition to finish is Heroes of the Viking World.  This is a touring exhibition from The JORVIK Group of Attractions, operators of the award-winning JORVIK Viking Centre.  The impressive exhibition includes two Viking tents, stories, replica Viking objects and human remains displaying battle injuries.

The Viking exhibition is complemented by the Viking Timewarp, which features a replica Viking Ship as the centrepiece plus replica Viking objects and costumes.  Visitors can play draughts using exact copies of the Viking gaming counter discovered in Guernsey. Beside the Timewarp is the sculpture display Busting Out The Store.  This eclectic selection of sculpture from the main collection varies from glazed ceramics to Hindu figurines.

Passage of Time by Monika Drabot is currently on display in Guernsey Art's greenhouse gallery.  Monika's interactive exhibition encourages visitors to pause, reflect and engage with the space.

In the Rona Cole Art Gallery, the temporary loan of an artwork will also end on 31 December.  Many visitors will recognise both the portrait of Fiona Adams and the artist behind the creation, Elizabeth Adams.  Fiona Adams is widely known for being the photographer behind the cover of the Beatles 'Twist & Shout' EP, which was described "one of the defining images of 20th-century culture" (by Terence Pepper of the National Portrait Gallery).  This portrait of Fiona was started by Elizabeth around twenty years ago.

From 19th to 24th December, there will be extra festive activities at the Museum.  Visitors can enjoy a daily film at 10:30, a Lucky Dip in the shop, help-yourself activities & themed trails around the galleries.  There is a beautiful range of gifts on sale in the Museum shop and Café Victoria will be open for hot drinks, snacks and light lunches.

The Museum will be open daily 10.00-16.00 this year with the following exceptions:  it is CLOSED on Christmas Day and Boxing Day; it closes at 14.00 on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.  Normal admission applies, so it's free with your Discovery Pass.

Guernsey Museum be closed as usual from 1 January.  The site will reopen on Friday 28 January 2022 with the wonderful Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
