Planning Advice Surgery

Monday 13 February 2012

Next Planning and Building Control Advice Surgery to be held at Le Friquet on Saturday 18 February 2012.

Islanders are invited to come along to a Householder Advice Surgery at Le Friquet Plant Centre on Saturday 18 February 2012, from 10:00hrs until 12:30hrs.

Planning and Building staff will be providing free, informal advice on making a planning or building control application, how to access planning and building control information and guidance, or to set up a meeting with planning and building control to discuss plans in detail. The Advice Surgeries are a great opportunity for those considering improvements to their home or garden but are not sure how the planning or building regulations may apply.

Further information on the Householder Advice Surgery is available on www.gov.gg/planning in the Planning and Building section.

Also being held at Le Friquet at the same time as the Householder Advice Surgery is an information session on the Review of the Island's Development Plans, the Urban and Rural Area Plans, launched on the 16 January 2012.

Director of Planning Policy, Faith Rose said:

"Many people do not realise that Development Plans directly affect how planning applications are decided - they are effectively the blueprint for planning development on the Island. The Review of the Island's Development Plans started in January 2012 and at the moment we are asking for Islander's views on how Guernsey can develop in the future.

We would welcome any comments that Islanders may have on a series of Topic Papers that cover big issues such as housing and land for employment. The information session on Saturday is a good opportunity to pick up the papers and to ask any questions."

A further information session for the Review of the Development Plans will be held on Saturday 25 February at The Professor Shaw Community Centre, St Martins.

Information on the Review of the Islands Development Plans is also available on www.gov.gg/planning; alternatively you can follow the Plan Review's progress on Twitter @planreviewgsy.
