Pensioners and those with limited mobility will again be able to view the Christmas lights in St Peter Port by driving through town at set times in December.
As with previous years, Traffic and Highways Services will be allowing those of pensionable age who drive or those with passengers of pensionable age to drive through Smith Street, High Street, Le Pollet, Mill Street and Mansell Street to enable them to enjoy the Christmas lights. Those who drive who hold a valid disabled person's badge or carry a passenger who holds a disabled person's badge will also be able to do the same.
This access only applies on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 10pm, from Sunday 26th November 2023 through to Monday 1st January 2024 except Sunday 24th December.
Whilst drivers are permitted to travel in either direction along Smith Street, they must only travel in the direction of the Town Church when driving along Le Pollet or the High Street. They also must only travel down Mill and Mansell Street.
All of the roads listed are subject to a 12mph speed limit.
There is no need to call the Committee's Edward T. Wheadon House office for a permit.
