The Policy & Resources Committee has submitted a motion to defer the Special Meeting on 17th March, 2021 by one week in the hope that an in-person meeting of the Assembly can take place by 24th March, 2021.
The Committee consulted the States' Assembly & Constitution Committee and the Presidents of the Principal Committees who unanimously agreed that the debate on Stage 1 of the Government Work Plan would be better served by an in-person meeting, which is not permissible under current restrictions.
If the motion is approved, the debate would take place following the conclusion of the business scheduled for the States' Meeting on 24th March. Although there is no guarantee that Guernsey will have moved to Stage 3 of its exit from lockdown framework by this date, it is hoped that this will be the case, subject to Public Health advice on the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community and the Emergency Regulations in force.
The Assembly will need to meet virtually on the 17th March to vote on whether or not to support this motion.
If Guernsey has not moved into Stage 3 of its exit from lockdown framework by 24th March, the debate will go ahead virtually unless any motion to defer is submitted.
