Planned works to improve the surfaces of the Ladies Pool at La Vallette in time for the polar bear swim on Christmas Day will be brought forward and commence next week after recent large waves have caused damage to the area. For the safety of swimmers, the pool was closed yesterday (Thursday 10 December).
The waves have caused the surface - the edge of the pool and the area around the pool - to crack. The metal trimming from the edge on the pool has also become dislodged by broken granite and subsequently left exposed steel re-enforcements.
In order to improve and make safe the pool for all swimmers, concrete repairs will be made to the area. The pool will remain closed for the duration of these works and is expected to be re-opened on Saturday 19 December.
