Lauren Eyton-Jones has been appointed the new headteacher of Vale Primary School.
Having been teaching in primary education for the past 29 years, Mrs Eyton-Jones has been working as deputy headteacher under the outgoing headteacher Gary Hind.
The appointment was made following a competitive recruitment process, and The Education Office will now begin the process of recruiting a new deputy headteacher.
Mrs Eyton-Jones said:
"I have been a primary teacher for the past 29 years and I have been very fortunate to have worked in a wide variety of schools within a range of year groups and leadership positions. It is a job for which I have an absolute passion and I feel both excited and privileged to have been appointed headteacher of Vale Primary School. I am very much looking forward to building upon all the progress made under Mr Hind's leadership, and to continue to work with our staff, children and whole school community in order to ensure Vale Primary provides the very best educational outcomes for all, in an aspirational, inclusive and engaging learning environment."
Andrea Dudley-Owen, President of the Committee forEducation, Sport & Culture, said:
"Lauren has clearly made a mark on the Vale School community during her tenure there as deputy headteacher, and I am delighted to see her successful in her application to take the next step as headteacher. I have no doubt she will continue the hard work led by Gary, constantly push the school's boundaries and ensure they never stop striving for improvement. Headteachers sit at the heart of school communities and are vital in a school's success and we are privileged to have such quality members of staff in those posts in Guernsey."
