The Social Investment Fund is inviting charitable groups in the Bailiwick to apply for funding from the COVID-19 Community Charity Appeal.
The Appeal has already raised over £123,000, with the aim of providing support to the local community through the voluntary sector in the short and medium term. The Social Investment Fund has set out criteria for charities which apply, and how it intends to prioritise the issuing of grants.
The first priority will be to fund new schemes proposed by charities to provide support in the community during the coronavirus pandemic. The second priority will be to provide funding for charities already providing essential services, which are facing financial difficulty because of how the crisis has impacted their normal sources of funding.
Chair of the Social Investment Fund Jurat Stephen Jones, OBE said:
"We're very grateful for the donations we've received, and of course we'd love to see more. The voluntary sector plays an essential role in our community even in normal times. We want to help ensure charities keep doing that, and that they can help to address the even greater challenges our Bailiwick now faces because of the coronavirus crisis. I know we will have difficult choices to make in determining where grants are awarded, but the more money we receive, the more often we can say 'yes'."
