The Employment Relations Service is looking to recruit a new Industrial Disputes Officer and Deputy Industrial Disputes Officer to play an important role in the prevention and settlement of industrial disputes.
These individuals would be responsible for:
- Explaining the collective conciliation process
- Discussing the options open to the parties
- Assisting the parties to understand how the other side views the issues in dispute
- Liaising between the parties regarding any proposals that may be put forward
- Explaining the options if a resolution is not found, including notifying a formal Industrial Dispute and the potential implications of doing so.
Impartiality, independence and sound judgement are essential attributes for these roles, together with the ability to understand and apply relevant legislation. Understanding of collective bargaining arrangements would be an advantage but is not essential.
