The Tourism Management Board is now inviting grant submissions from event and activity providers seeking financial support towards events and activities they are organising for 2024.
There are two grants that organisers can apply for - the annual events and activities grant, totalling £123,000 and, for 2024 only, a one-off Tourism Development Fund totalling £150,000.
The Tourism Development Fund is an exciting opportunity for those across the tourism sector to pitch for funding for new or existing tourism projects. Business cases are being invited which demonstrate ideas which can deliver a long-term return for tourism.
For the first time, the Tourism Management Board will oversee the decision-making process for both the grants, following the Committee for Economic Development agreeing the Board was best placed to administer the funds thereby putting increased responsibility in the hands of the industry itself.
The Board is looking to support events and activities that will help to deliver on its remit during 2024.
As such, grant awards will only be awarded to organisers who can demonstrate that they meet some or all the criteria set:
- Driving enhanced on-island experience for the visitor and thereby enhancing Guernsey's tourism product.
- Driving incremental visitor growth.
- Promote business or economic development where there is a clear tangible benefit for the local economy.
- Build local entrepreneurial capacity.
The available budget for grant support is limited, and it is the Board's intention to support as many providers as possible with grants.
The deadline for the Tourism Development Fund is Sunday 15th October. Please submit a business case (not the form below) to Hannah Beacom (Hannah.Beacom@gov.gg) to support your request for funding, showing how it satisfies the above criteria and will deliver a long term resource in support of tourism. This should include financial projections and data in support of the proposal.
The deadline for receiving completed application forms for the annual grant is 5pm, Thursday 26th October.
The Board will then meet to review and agree grant allocations week commencing Monday 30th October.
The Tourism Development Fund will be paid to successful applicants by the end of November, Annual Grants will be paid to successful applicants by the end of March 2024.
Grant recipients will be required to provide twice-yearly updates and report to the Board.
